The Saturdays deny split rumours

The girls put and end to rumours

Girlband The Saturdays have denied split rumours, after reports emerged that they were to take a ‘two year break’.

The girls took to Twitter to dismiss the claims directly, with Una Healy, who recently announced that she is expecting her first child with rugby player boyfriend Ben Foden, posting:

“Why do people start silly rumours? We are definitely not going on a break. We have loads of things planned for 2012 – baby on board too.

“I normally wouldn’t rise to rumours but it’s not fair on our fans to read and believe the lies. Trust me, Team Sats, we ain’t going nowhere!”

Her bandmates Rochelle Wiseman and Frankie Sandford also posted comments in an attempt to clear things up, with Sandford writing:

“2 year break my a**e! If only you guys could see our schedule! 2 days off is a struggle! Lol.

“Let’s not make the excitement of the benuna baby all doom and gloom!”

Wiseman added:

“Just heard some v strange rumours that we are having a 2 year break… oh pah lease!!

“Not true in any way shape or form… We are busier now than we have ever ever been and that’s how we like it! So just thought I’d squash any split rumours.”

The Saturdays are currently in Iceland filming the video for their new single, My Heart Takes Over.

  1. I think there is a danger that the market is becoming saturated for girl groups and quite frankly, a little apathetic to them. There was a time before the Spice Girls where there were very few and then Girls Aloud took over. Both were unusual in they had some standout with the characters.

Nowadays there are so many sassy, sexy and singers/dancers in these groups that they offer very little standout. The performance of Saturdays last few singles, the Sugababes and Duchess underperformance for their debut single are all examples of this.

I actually think the current attitudes for manufactured pop have changed and we are in a different cycle for music. We wrote a post on End of Manufactured Pop. http://musiceyz.co.uk/2011/09/22/the-end-of-manufactured-pop/

By the way, well written post, you must have good contacts because you have these on a daily basis.

    • Thanks very much! I have to agree with you here – it’s very strange that they’ve not had a Number 1 yet and they’ve been around a while now, in music industry terms. There’s news out today that they’ve got a deal over in the US to do a reality show; I wonder how the Americans will take the girls?
