Disney has marked the start of production on their latest picture, Maleficent, by releasing the first image of Angelina Jolie in the title role.
According to a statement, Maleficent is the untold story of Disney’s most beloved villain, Maleficent, from the 1959 Disney classic, Sleeping Beauty.
The film will reveal the events that “hardened her heart and drove her to curse the baby, Aurora”.
Joining Angelina is a stellar cast lin-up which includes Elle Fanning, Imelda Staunton, Miranda Richardson and Juno Temple.
Maleficent started production on 13 May 2012 and is scheduled for release in the US on 14 March 2014.
