After months of speculation, plans for an Inbetweeners Movie sequel have finally been confirmed.
Writer Damon Beesley revealed to The Sun’s TV Biz that Will, Jay, Neil and Simon will return to the big screen in a follow up to the 2011 smash hit film.
Beesley, who co-created the show with Iain Morris, told the publication:
“I don’t want to give too much away at this stage but yes, we have been developing an idea for a sequel.
“We miss working with Simon, Joe, James and even Blake too much not to give it a go.”
Morris backed up Beesley’s comments on Twitter, replying to one question about the movie:
“Yes, but it’s far from signed and like Damon said we want to make sure we have a good enough story to tell.”
He also added that they hoped “to make sure that we can do justice to a follow-up”.
The sequel will apparently net the four main stars – Simon Bird, Joe Thomas, Blake Harrison and James Buckley, £2.5million each; a significant pay rise compared to the £500,000 they received for the original movie.
Meanwhile, the first Inbetweeners film is on track to be released in the US on 7 September.
