The pair had been ‘quietly dating’
Singer Avril Lavigne is to wed Nickelback rocker Chad Kroeger, after getting engaged on 8 August, according to reports.
The Sk8er Boi star has been quietly dating the 37-year-old since they met in February, says People magazine.
A friend of 27-year-old Avril is explained to the publication:
“A romantic relationship blossomed as they spent time writing together.”
Canadian Kroeger allegedly proposed with a 14-carat diamond ring, with another insider adding that the couple’s families “could not be more excited” at the news.
While this marriage will be Chad’s first, Lavigne has been married before, wedding Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley in 2006. They divorced in 2009.
Avril also dated The Hills star Brody Jenner for two years, with the couple getting matching tattoos. They split at the beginning of this year.
