Apprentice candidates revealed

This year’s Apprentice contestants have been revealed, with a cake shop owner, jazz singer and a racing driver among the hopefuls.

Series nine will see the 16 new candidates fight it out to receive a £250,000 investment and the chance to go into business partnership with Lord Sugar.

Sugar’s aides, Karren Brady and Nick Hewer will return to keep an eye on this year’s candidates as they compete in 12 tasks, each hoping to be crowned the Apprentice winner for 2013.

Catch the first episode of series nice of the Apprentice 7th May at 9pm on BBC One.

‘The Female Boss’ gets the boot?

Tulisa has been axed from the X Factor judging panel, according to reports.

In a show shake up, X Factor boss Simon Cowell has apparently sacked the 24-year-old singer, after a two-year stint on the show.

A ‘source’ reportedly told The Sun:

“To say Tulisa is gutted is an understatement. She’s a bit embarrassed to be on the scrapheap when she delivered with Little Mix.

“She’s thrown away one of the most high-profile jobs in the industry as well as one of the best paid.

“But she simply wasn’t up to scratch last year and Simon Cowell had no real option.”

Among those already tipped to replace the self-styled Female Boss are judge Gary Barlow’s former bandmate, Robbie Williams, and Mel B, who appeared on the reality show as a guest judge last year.

Mel has also recently signed up to take Sharon Osbourne’s place on the America’s Got Talent judging panel, but a source told The Mirror that her schedule could be arranged around the X Factor.

Tulisa joined Barlow, Louis Walsh and Kelly Rowland on the panel in 2011 and mentored winning act Little Mix. Rowland departed after just one series and was replaced by former Pussycat Doll, Nicole Scherzinger.

X Factor will return to our screens for its tenth season this autumn.

Britney and Jason break things off

Britney Spears has split from her fiancé and manager, Jason Trawick.

The Gimme More singer, who has been engaged since December 2011, confirmed the news in a statement which read:

“Jason and I have decided to call off our engagement. I’ll always adore him and we will remain great friends.”

Forty-one-year-old Jason added:

“As this chapter ends for us a new one begins. I love and cherish her and her boys and we will be close forever.”

Mother-of-two Britney has also changed management companies, severing both her business and personal ties with Trawick.

News of the pair’s split broke on the same day that Spears, 31, confirmed her departure from the US X Factor, with Britney announcing her resignation from the panel in an official statement on 11 January:

“I had an incredible time doing the show and I love the other judges and I am so proud of my teens but it’s time for me to get back in the studio [to record my eighth album].

“Watching them all do their thing up on that stage every week made me miss performing so much! I can’t wait to get back out there and do what I love most.”

Britney and Jason confirmed that they were dating in May 2010, with Trawick proposing in Las Vegas 19 months later. She has two sons from her relationship with Kevin Federline, Sean Preston and Jayden James.

Stars enter the CBB house

After weeks of speculation, the 12 famous faces taking part in Celebrity Big Brother 2013 have finally been revealed.

During the two-hour launch show on 3 January, celebrities including Frankie Dettori, Rylan Clark and The Hills’ Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt all entered the Big Brother house to take part in this year’s series.

However, the unsuspecting celebrities were subjected to a twist, with half of the contestants not making it to the main house at all, instead being banished to a underground basement.

X Factor star Rylan and jockey Frankie were the first to enter the house after greeting host Brian Dowling, but were immediately called to the Diary Room for a secret task.

The pair then had to decide which housemates would enjoy a night of luxury with champagne and canapes, and which would be staying on basic rations in the basement.

Those stars in Rylan and Frankie’s good books last night were Claire from Steps, Tricia Penrose, former Eastenders star Gillian Taylforth and Page 3 girl, Lacey Banghard.

Completing the celebrity line-up and descending the steps to the Big Brother basement were Neighbours actor Ryan Maloney, model Paula Hamilton, reality show regular Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock, former Corrie star Sam Robertson and Hills couple, Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag, who will be classed as one housemate.

Kim and Kanye expecting their first child

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian are to become parents for the first time, with the rapper choosing to share the pair’s happy news in front of 5,000 fans while on stage in New Jersey.

West, 35, stopped his set mid-performance on 30 December to ask the crowd to “make some noise for my baby mama right there”, before proceeding to serenade his girlfriend of eight months, Kardashian.

Kim, 32, later confirmed the news herself through a statement posted on her website, which read:

“It’s true!! Kanye and I are expecting a baby.

“We feel so blessed and lucky and wish that in addition to both of our families, his mom and my dad could be here to celebrate this special time with us.

“Looking forward to great new beginnings in 2013 and to starting a family. Happy New Year!!!”

Kim and Kanye got together in April 2012, following Kardashian’s split from husband, Kris Humphries after 72 days of marriage. The pair are still legally married.

CBB 2013: House pictures revealed

Channel 5 has given Celebrity Big Brother fans a look inside the brand new house ahead of the show’s launch on 3 January.

This year’s series kicks off with a two-hour launch show from 9pm this evening and promises three weeks of “hell” for the unsuspecting housemates.

Among those rumoured to be entering the house are jockey Frankie Dettori, The Hills stars Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag and X Factor contestant Rylan Clark.

Claire Richards, from recently reformed 90s band, Steps, is also set to enter, after posting a unusually covert Tweet on 2 January:

“Right my lovely tweethearts! I wont be able to tweet you for a while…. so please follow @UrbanAssociates whilst I’m away… lots of love C.”

Catch the launch show, presented by Brian Dowling, on 3 January at 9pm on Channel 5.

Cheryl to sue the US X Factor

Cheryl Cole is suing the US X Factor for $2.3million, according to reports.

According to Deadline, the Girls Aloud and solo star will fight for the salary she is owed following her unceremonious axing from the reality show in 2011.

Cole, 29, apparently received $1.8m for the first series of the programme, but has now filed a complaint, asking for the further $2m she would have been paid for season two, plus living expenses and house and wardrobe costs.

Cheryl joined the American version of the X Factor in 2011 and appeared on the panel alongside Simon Cowell, L.A. Reid and Paula Abdul for three weeks, before being axed and replaced by Nicole Scherzinger.

In her recent autobiography, Cheryl: My Story, Cheryl revealed that she sent Cowell an expletive-laden text after learning of her dismissal, explaining:

“He didn’t even have the guts to phone or send a message warning me what was coming.

“I was furious with Simon for letting it happen like this. I believed we had a good friendship and I couldn’t understand why he just hadn’t been straight with me.”

The strongly-worded message reportedly read:

“F*** you, f*** Britain’s Got Talent, f*** the orange hair and purple outfit. F*** big hair. F*** the UK X Factor. F*** you all. I hate you. I understand you’re a businessman and what I’ve learned from this is that business means more to you than our friendship.”

Cheryl recently reunited with Girls Aloud for the band’s tenth anniversary. They will embark on their Girls Aloud Ten – The Hits tour from February 2013.

Rita Ora and Rob Kardashian have gone their separate ways, just one month after going public with their romance.

According to The Sun, the couple’s hectic work schedules became too much, however Kardashian’s Twitter profile tells a different story.

In a rant on the social networking site, the 25-year-old brother of Kim Kardashian appeared to accuse Rita, 22, of cheating on him with  “nearly 20 dudes”:

“She cheated on me with nearly 20 dudes while we were together… But I mean 20?!!!!

“How can a woman who is so busy trying to start her own career have time to be with so many dudes all while in a relationship?!”

The posts – which never mentioned Rita by name – were live for around 30 minutes before being removed.

The How We Do singer’s spokesperson was not prepared to comment and there is no reason to believe the claims are verifiable.

Rob was due to fly over for Rita’s 22nd birthday in London last week, but didn’t make an appearance. He has also deleted all references to Rita on his Instagram account.

The pair were first spotted out together back in May, but only went public with their relationship at the end of October.

Ora, who is singed to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation label, has had three Number 1 hits in the UK with Hot Right Now, R.I.P. and How We Do (Party). Rob Kardashian has appeared on Dancing with the Stars in the US and has his own designer sock line.

Rochelle to become a mum for the first time

Saturdays’ singer Rochelle Humes is expecting her first child with husband Marvin, it has been announced.

The 22-year-old star chose to share her happy news via Twitter, posting:

“I wanted to be the first to tell you…we have some exciting news to share! Marvin and I could NOT be more thrilled to announce that we are expecting our first child mid next year.

“We have always dreamt of being parents and the news is the best early Christmas present we could have asked for. I know Marvin is going to be a great dad and we’re so excited to start a family.”

A number of celebrities Tweeted their congratulations to the couple following the announcement, with Cheryl Cole writing:

“Congratulations @rochellethesats @jlsofficial! I’m SO happy for you. So cute”

And Alexandra Burke sending her well wishes:

“Congrats to Marvin and Roch soooo happy for the beautiful couple !!” [sic]

Fellow Saturday Mollie King even joked that Baby Humes and bandmate Una Healy’s daughter, Aoife Belle, could form a band of their own:

“Couldn’t be more excited and thrilled for @RochelleTheSats & Marvin!!! Ahhh can’t believe this!! Who else feels The Sats Juniors forming?”

The news comes just four months after JLS star Marvin and Rochelle wed at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire.

Two weeks after the ceremony, Rochelle jetted off to Los Angeles with her Saturdays bandmates to start filming for their up-coming reality show, Chasing The Saturdays.

The show is set to air on E! in at the beginning of next year.

Justin Bieber has spoken for the first time about his alleged split from girlfriend of two years, Disney star Selena Gomez.

During a radio interview on 10 November, the Beauty and the Beat singer was asked about the supposed break-up and skirted around the question, commenting:

“I don’t know what to say. I don’t know what’s going on in my life… To even assess that it doesn’t make sense ’cause I have not made any comment.”

Selena, 20, has kept a low profile since their alleged split, however 18-year-old Justin has already been linked to Victoria’s Secret model Barbara Palvin, after they were spotted backstage at this year’s show.

Palvin and Bieber also attended a showing of The Lion King on Broadway on 8 November, the night after the Victoria’s Secret catwalk. Selena then tweeted a photograph of Justin with Palvin in the background, alongside the caption:

“…….”

Palvin has since dismissed any relationship rumours, posting on her Twitter account:

“Last time I’m saying it. please calm down.there is nothing going on w him.i met him and did a pic w him. wouldn’t u do the same?:) #friendship.” [sic]

Reports emerged earlier this month that Bieber and Gomez had gone their separate ways, with an ‘insider’ telling US Weekly on 9 November:

“Selena broke up with Justin about a week ago. It’s been a really challenging experience over the last year because of their crazy schedules… Selena definitely had some major trust issues with Justin.”

Justin and Selena first went public with their relationship in February 2011 at the Vanity Fair Oscars party.
