Beyoncé has been confirmed as the new face of H&M.

The high street brand has announced that the Single Ladies singer has signed on to promote their summer 2013 line.

The first images from the shoot have also been released and show 31-year-old Bey lounging on a sunbed, dressed in a white top and checked shorts.

The ads will run worldwide with the tagline ‘Beyoncé as Mrs Carter in H&M’, keeping in line with her Mrs Carter world tour branding.

The pictures were reportedly shot in the Bahamas back in January by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin.

The star said of her latest career move:

“I’ve always liked H&M’s focus on fun and affordable fashion. I really loved the concept we collaborated on to explore the different emotions of women represented by the four elements – fire, water, earth and wind.

“It was a beautiful shoot on a tropical island. It felt more like making a video than a commercial.’

Beyoncé has also recorded a track to go with the campaign, Standing on the Sun, which will feature on the adverts.

This is the latest in a series of moves which marks the singer’s comeback following the birth of her daughter, Blue Ivy, in January 2012.

She performed at the Super Bowl XLVII in February, announced her world tour, the Mrs Carter Show, and caused controversy earlier this week with her new track, Bow Down.

The singer has been criticised for the use of the word ‘b***h’ in the song, which lyrics include:

“I know when you were little girls you dreamt of being in my world. Don’t forget it. Respect that. Bow Down b****es.”

Beyoncé embarks on her Mrs Carter Show world tour on 15 April and will play 11 dates in the UK, three in Manchester, two in Birmingham and six at the O2 in London.

She is also said to be working on her fifth studio album.

Beyoncé to star in musical

Bey to star in new film, One Hit Wonders

Beyoncé has signed up to appear in a new movie directed by Glee creator, Ryan Murphy.

It is thought to be the new mum’s first major role since giving birth to her daughter, Blue Ivy in January.

The musical movie, titled One Hit Wonders, will also feature Gwyneth Paltrow, Cameron Diaz and Reese Witherspoon, with all four playing singers who each made it big in the 90s, before fading into obscurity.

According to BBC Newsbeat, the film will follow the singers as they meet and join forces to create a supergroup.

Murphy will write the script with fellow Glee co-creators Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennen and Gwyneth – who made a cameo in the popular show – will reportedly part-produce the picture.

Star of US television series Saturday Night Live, Adam Samberg will also be involved with the project.

Beyoncé, 30, is currently taking some time off with her family to focus on being a mum, however, one of her co-writers, One Republic’s Ryan Tedder has revealed she’s got plans for two music projects this year.

He told MTV that they had already spoken about the follow-up to 4, which was released in June 2011, saying:

“The conversations about her next album literally just started and there [are] two projects happening.

“All I can say is you kind of feed her the best that you have and she’s this phenomenal filter and she takes it all in.”

Beyoncé, Jay-Z to trademark Blue Ivy

Trademark application is said to be pending

Beyoncé and Jay-Z are going to great lengths to ensure their daughter’s name stays sacred, by attempting to trademark it.

According to MTV, the new parents have filed an application – which is still pending – to legally protect the name Blue Ivy Carter.

If it’s approved, 30-year-old Bey and her rapper husband, 40, could use their daughter’s name as a brand or for endorsements, however it is more likely that the couple took the measure to avoid others cashing in on their offspring.

Lawyer Vikki Ziegler told the music channel:

“Seeking the trademark forestalls competitors from using the child’s name and or third parties from attempting to sell the baby’s name back to the couple.

“They are likely trying to protect what they rightfully own or created, shall we say, by trademarking Blue Ivy’s name.”

The Patent Office has already put a stop to two other applications attempting to trademark the name since Blue’s birth on 7 January, citing that the name belonged to a “very famous infant” as the reason for the rejection.

Beyoncé interview branded a fake

Bey gave birth on 7 January

An article described as Beyoncé’s first interview since giving birth to her baby daughter Blue last week, has been called “fake” by the singer’s representative.

The interview, published in Star magazine on Tuesday, is billed as a ‘world exclusive’ on the front cover and divulges information about the birth and says that rapper Jay-Z will be a “hands-on” father.

Her spokesperson has said that the article was “completely made up”, however the magazine’s editor, Anna Pointer, has denied the claim, telling US television show, Access Hollywood:

“It is not made up or fictitious at all. We bought the interview from a reporter in the US, who conducted the interview with Beyoncé before the birth.

“The reporter then obtained the ‘top-up’ info after the birth, which we believe to have been signed off by a girl on her LSM team.”

The article does not, however, refer to the interview taking place in stages and a promotional piece on the magazine’s website dubs it as “Beyoncé’s first interview since the birth of her daughter”.

These claims come just a day after several magazine editors appeared before the Leveson enquiry into press standards, regarding the issue of misleading headlines on front covers.

Beyoncé gives birth

Bey welcomes first child, Blue Ivy

After weeks of speculation, it has been confirmed that Beyoncé has given birth to her first child.

The R&B superstar and her husband, rapper Jay-Z, welcomed a little girl called Blue Ivy on 7 January.

According to reports, the 30-year-old first-time-mum gave birth by Caesarean section at Lenox Hill hospital in New York, with Jay – real name Shawn Carter – by her side.

A host of celebrities, including Rihanna and Gwyneth Paltrow, have been posting their congratulations to the couple via Twitter.

Paltrow, a close friend of the pair, tweeted:

“Welcome to the world Blue! We love you already.”

While Rihanna, who is signed to 42-year-old Carter’s Rocafella label, wrote:

“Welcome to the world princess Carter! Love Aunty Rih.”

Knowles’ younger sister Solange also took to her Twitter account, posting:

“The most beautiful girl in the world.”

Rumours started circulating about the couple and their as yet unborn child as soon as Beyoncé announced she was expecting.

There were reports of the star using a fake baby bump to disguise her due date and some even suggested she was using a surrogate.

Rumours reached fever pitch, however, on 30 December 2011, when reports surfaced that Beyoncé had given birth to a daughter called Tiana May Carter, following reports that staff at a private hospital in New York had been told to prepare for a V.I.P. arrival.

A famously private couple, Beyoncé and Jay-Z married back in 2008, with Bey announcing her pregnancy live on stage at the MTV Video Music Awards back in August 2011.
