Williams welcomes baby daughter

Robbie and Ayda welcome baby Teddy

Singer Robbie Williams and his wife, Ayda Field, have become parents for the first time, welcoming their daughter, Theodora, on 18 September.

The pair announced their happy news in a statement posted on Williams’ website:

“Praise be, it’s Theodora Rose Williams, affectionately known as Teddy…born 3.33pm on 18.9.12, 7lbs 4oz…

“Baby, Mummy and Daddy are all rockin…Thank you for your best wishes…xxxx.” [sic]

Baby Theodora is the first child for the couple, who wed two years ago.

A host of celebrities have taken to Twitter to congratulate 33-year-old Field and Williams, 38, with Take That pal Gary Barlow among the first to send his best wishes:

“Massive congrats Rob and Ayda. So happy for you.”

Former Radio 1 breakfast DJ Chris Moyles also tweeted his congratulations, alongside Ronan Keating and singer Jonathan Wilkes.

Before the birth, Robbie spoke to The Sun, telling the publication that he wants his daughter to go to school in the UK rather than in Los Angeles:

“I don’t want to educate our baby in LA because I would much prefer her to have English sensibilities.

“They are idiots in LA schools. They are f***ing idiots. They are a breed of idiots that only exist in Los Angeles and she would be surrounded by them. It’s not like one or two either. It’s not like the Big Brother house, where you pick the worst ones.

“I think kids there have a massive sense of entitlement, are dull and dumb. It means me coming back to the UK for good but I can live with that. It’s worth being pestered for her to have a good school.”

He has since said that he and US-born Ayda are still discussing future living and schooling arrangements.

Spice Girls musical gets opening date

Victoria, Emma, Geri, Mel B and Mel C are all involved

The Spice Girls musical, Viva Forever, is to premiere this December, according to reports.

The long-awaited show, penned by Jennifer Saunders and Mamma Mia writer, Judy Craymer, will take over from Ghost the Musical at the Piccadilly Theatre, reports the Daily Mail.

There were reports back in April that the production had been delayed due to bickering between Mel C and Mel B, with a source telling the New York Post:

“Melanie Brown and Melanie Chisholm just cannot agree. It is driving Jennifer [Saunders] crazy.”

Vivia Forever will apparently tell the story of a mother who takes her daughter to audition for a talent show and will be set against a backdrop of the Spice Girls’ music.

All of the girls are said to be involved with the project, however none of them will star in the production.

Sporty Spice Mel C however, will be appearing as Mary Magdalene in a new production of Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s Jesus Christ Superstar, alongside Chris Moyles and Tim Minchin, this September.

Auditions for Viva Forever are set to take place in July, with rehearsals to follow in September and previews in November.

Representatives for both musicals are yet to comment or confirm any dates.

Two acts to face the X Factor chop

Two acts will be sent home

Two acts will be sent home from the X Factor this weekend it has been confirmed.

Show judge and Group mentor Louis Walsh revealed the news this morning, speaking to Chris Moyles and his team on the Chris Moyles Show.

He told the Radio One DJ that two acts would be leaving the singing reality show on Sunday, before also revealing that he thought his acts were “in trouble”.

He also expressed concern about Gary Barlow’s act, Frankie Cocozza, who has been pictured out partying since the live shows began.

Frankie most recently got into trouble on last weekend’s Xtra Factor show, after being asked what happened between him and a Geordie Shore cast member.

He told hosts Olly Murs and Caroline Flack that he had “met her” and “banged her”, before taking to Twitter to apologise for going “too far”.

When asked by Moyles if Frankie was “still putting the work in” behind the scenes, Barlow – who was also a guest on the show, alongside Kelly Rowland – said yes, explaining that he didn’t want to tell the 18-year-old what to do.

Last week, Kelly Rowland’s act Sophie Habibis was sent home after a tense sing-off against fellow Girl Misha B.

All of the judges, including an absent Kelly, chose to send the former bar maid home.

Moyles confirmed for new Sky show

Chris' new Sky venture

Radio One DJ Chris Moyles has been confirmed as one of the hosts of new Sky dating show, The Love Machine.

Moyles will front the show alongside former X Factor star and current face of Iceland supermarkets, Stacey Solomon.

Chris said of his new venture:

“I’m really excited about hosting the show. It’s all the awkwardness of a giant speed dating event but in front of a live studio audience and on the TV!”

It is not known if this move will affect the morning DJ’s current contract with the BBC.

Featuring a huge set filmed in front of a big studio audience, The Love Machine will focus on a giant dating machine filled with single guys and girls hoping to be selected by the night’s contestants.

Two couples created by The Love Machine will then go head to head and tackle the issues men and women confront on a first date but never normally dare to discuss – sex, money and fanciability.

The winning couple will go on an incredible holiday for two – but not before one dastardly final twist that gives them the chance to ditch their date for a last minute upgrade.

Duncan Gray, Sky’s Head of Entertainment, commented:

“The Love Machine is a funny, entertaining and at times painfully honest game show based on the oldest dating principle around – looks and first impressions count!”

The Love Machine is set to air on Sky Living HD in spring of 2012.

Jessie J to coach on The Voice

Jessie confirmed as first Voice coach

Jessie J has been revealed as the first celebrity coach for new reality show, The Voice.

The Price Tag singer confirmed the news this morning on Chris Moyles’ Radio One Breakfast Show by way of a yes or no guessing game.

Jessie, who featured on the X Factor this weekend as Tulisa’s aide, explained the ‘blind auditions’ format to listeners.

She also confirmed that the UK version would be similar to the format broadcast in the US and would feature four coaches – who are both mentors and judges to the acts – with each choosing ten performers after facing away from them while they sing.

She praised the ‘blind audition’ theory, telling Moyles:

“I do think sometimes that a lot of people don’t audition for these shows because… they don’t feel they look like a popstar. I can’t wait, I’m so excited about it.”

Danny Cohen, Controller of BBC One, said in a statement that he is “absolutely delighted” that The Voice will be coming to the BBC:

“It’s a big, exciting and warm-hearted series and will be a fantastic Saturday night event on BBC One.”

The series will consist of three phases: a blind audition, a battle phase and live performance shows. Each judge has the length of the auditionee’s performance to decide if he or she wants that singer on his or her team.

If two or more judges want the same singer then the singer gets to choose which coach they want to work with.

Jessie did not reveal the identities of any of the other four coaches, however Cheryl Cole, Charlotte Church, Dannii Minogue and Lenny Kravitz have all been linked to the show.

Cee-Lo Green, Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton and Maroon 5’s Adam Levine all feature as coaches on the US version of the programme, which has proved to be a massive hit over in the States.

Open auditions for The Voice begin in London on 31 October 2011, continuing across the UK throughout November.

The Voice is set to premiere on BBC One in spring 2012.

Lady Gaga and Coldplay are among the first artists confirmed for a special Children in Need concert to take place this November.

The event, organised by X Factor judge and Take That star Gary Barlow, was announced on this morning’s Chris Moyles Show on Radio One.

Gary told the team that he “can’t wait” to see it all come together on 17 November:

“I’m so thrilled that these incredible artists are giving their time for such a special charity that is very close to my heart.

“There are still some great acts we’re keeping up our sleeve to announce in the coming weeks and who knows, I might even sing a little something on the night too.”

JLS, N-Dubz and Ed Sheeran were also named as performers alongside Coldplay and Gaga, with further artists to be announced in the coming weeks.

David Ramsden, BBC Children in Need CEO, said of the concert:

“With Gary’s incredible support we are going to be able to change thousands of young lives right here in the UK.

“He has put together an amazing line-up for an unforgettable evening which will raise lots of money for disadvantaged children who desperately need our help.”
