Katie Holmes files for divorce

Tom and Katie had been married five years

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are to divorce after five years of marriage, with the Dawson’s Creek actress filing for divorce on 29 June.

Sources claim Cruise’s parenting style and strong links with Scientology clashed with 33-year-old Katie’s beliefs.

Holmes’ attorney, Jonathan Wolfe confirmed the news with a statement to People magazine over the weekend, which read:

“This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family. Katie’s primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter’s best interest.”

Cruise’s spokesperson, Amanda Lunberg, reaffirmed the news, revealing:

“Kate has filed for divorce and Tom is deeply saddened and is concentrating on his three children.

“Please allow them their privacy to work this out.”

According to TMZ, Katie, intends to fight for full custody of their six-year-old daughter, Suri, and reportedly filed for divorce in New York as the state dislikes granting joint custody to warring parents.

Tom, 49, and Katie married in Italy in 2006. The Top Gun star has been married three times, first to Mimi Rogers in 1987, then to actress Nicole Kidman between 1990 and 2001.

Myleene, husband split after six months

Myleene Klass and her husband, Graham Quinn, have split after just six months of marriage, it has been confirmed.

Quinn, a former bodyguard, is said to have walked out on the TV presenter and their two children on her 34th birthday last month.

News of the split, which happened back in May, has only just emerged, with a spokesperson for the star only commenting to ask for privacy:

“This is a private matter and as such we ask that everyone respects Myleene’s privacy at this time.”

A source close to mother-of-two Klass reportedly told The Sun that she had “no idea” Quinn, 38, was going to leave them:

“Their wedding was the happiest day of her life but now it’s all over.

“They only got married a few months ago and she thought everything between them was great.

“It came as a massive shock to Myleene and she’s heartbroken.”

Myleene, who found fame as a member of Popstars-formed band, Hear’say, and Quinn wed in October 2011 in a small ceremony attended by close friends and family.

They have two children together, Ava, four, and one-year-old Hero.

Marc Anthony files for divorce

It's officially over for Jennifer and Marc

Marc Anthony has filed for divorce from Jennifer Lopez, it has been revealed.

The couple announced that they would be ending their marriage in July 2011, after seven years together.

According to entertainment website TMZ, Anthony filed papers at the LA County Superior Court on 9 April, citing “irreconcilable differences”.

The performer is asking for joint custody of the pair’s four-year-old twins, Emme and Max.

Lopez and Anthony have continued to work together since their split, appearing on Fox reality show Q’Viva. They are also set to perform together for the programme’s live concert on 26 May.

This is American Idol star Jennifer’s third divorce, after splitting from Ojani Noa after 11 months and dancer Chris Judd, who she divorced in January 2003.

She is currently in a relationship with backing dancer, Casper Smart.

Sinead calls off divorce

Sinead O’Connor has said that she is calling of her divorce, just over a week after announcing it.

O’Connor and Barry Herridge, who met after Sinead made an appeal for a husband on her blog, wed at the beginning of December in Las Vegas.

They announced their split 16 days later, however, the pair now appear to have made up.

The singer returned to her Twitter account to share her good news, posting a series of updates on 4 January:

“Yay!!! we decided to be boyfriend and girlfriend again an stay married but we did rush so we gonna return to b friend g friend .

“An be sickenly happy an go counsellin an move in in like a yr like regular people.. but stay married an we all in love.

“Yay!!! me husband is a big hairy cave man an came to claim me with his club : ) and now im in cave-land.. yay!! we both go panto! [sic]“

O’Connor previously told The Sun that being married to drug counsellor Herridge was like “living in a coffin”, claiming she ended the union out of “respect for him”.

She also revealed that her marriage got into trouble almost immediately, when she nearly bought crack cocaine on her wedding night.

Sinead’s divorce after 16-day marriage

Possible suitors asked to apply

Sinead O’Connor is to split from her husband of 16 days, drug counsellor Barry Herridge.

The singer announced the news via her website and appeared to blame Herridge’s friends for the break-up:

“From the moment myself and my husband got together not long ago, there was intense pressure placed upon him by certain people in his life, not to be involved with me.

“Within 3 hours of the ceremony being over the marriage was kyboshed by the behaviour of certain people in my husband’s life.

“And also by a bit of a wild ride i took us on looking for a bit of a smoke of weed for me wedding night as I don’t drink.”

The 45-year-old since admitted being handed Class A drugs on her wedding night, during a ‘hunt for marijuana’ with Herridge, telling The Sun:

“I wasn’t scared — but he’s a drugs counsellor. What was I thinking?

“Then I was handed a load of crack. Barry was very frightened — that kind of messed everything up a bit really.”

O’Connor and Herridge married on 8 December 2011 in Las Vegas after a whirlwind romance.

The Nothing Compares 2 U singer met Barry after she announced on her blog that she was “sex-starved” and requested possible suitors to apply.

Herridge emailed her and proposed on every date they had until she agreed to marry him.

This is Sinead’s fourth failed marriage, previously divorcing Steve Cooney in April 2011 after less than a year of marriage.

Brand files for divorce

The end for Russell and Katy

Russell Brand has announced that he is to divorce his wife, US singer Katy Perry, after 14 months of marriage.

According to reports, the comedian filed divorce papers in Los Angeles, citing irreconcilable differences.

In a statement the 36-year-old said:

“Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage. I’ll always adore her and I know we’ll remain friends.”

This news comes after months of press speculation that the couple were having marriage trouble.

The pair spent Christmas day apart, with Brand spotted in Cornwall while his wife spent the holidays in Hawaii – without her wedding ring.

Perry and Brand got together in 2008 and married in October 2010 at a resort inside a tiger reserve in India.

Demi to divorce Ashton

All over for Ashton and Demi

Demi Moore has announced that she is divorcing husband, Ashton Kucher.

In a statement to the Associated Press, the 49-year-old actress said:

“It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton.

“As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life.

“This is a trying time for me and my family, and so I would ask for the same compassion and privacy that you would give to anyone going through a similar situation.”

Demi married the Two and a Half Men star in August 2005, however their relationship recently came under scrutiny after rumours surfaced that Kucher had had an affair.

Moore had previously been married to Bruce Willis, before the couple divorced in 2000. They have three children together, Rumer, Scout and Tallulah-Belle.

Kim files for divorce after 72 days

Reality star Kim Kardashian has filed for divorce from her husband Kris Humphries after just 72 days of marriage, according to reports.

News broke of the split on 31 October, with Keeping Up with the Kardashians producer Ryan Seacrest t to he first to confirm the reports, tweeting:

“Yes @KimKardashian is filing for divorce this morning. I touched base with her, getting a statement in just a few mins.”

Kim herself has now released a statement, which confirms the news and reveals that she was the one to end things with Kris:

“After careful consideration, I have decided to end my marriage. I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision. I had hoped this marriage was forever, but sometimes things don’t work out as planned.”

Football star Humphries also released a statement which said he was “devastated” that Kim has filed for divorce:

“I love my wife and am devastated to learn she filed for divorce.

“I’m committed to this marriage and everything this covenant represents and I’m willing to do whatever it takes to make it work.”

The pair tied the knot in California on 20 August, however rumours that their marriage was on the rocks surfaced as early as the beginning of October.

According to the Mail Online, a source close to the couple told the website:

“I don’t know when they’ll announce the split or why they got married in the first place but they are done.

“They are divorcing. Kim has been staying in a New York hotel which Kris has failed to visit.”

This split marks the second failed marriage for the 31-year-old Kardashian.

She wed music producer Damon Thomas when she was just 19, divorcing him back in 2004.
