X Factor promo upsets Shayne Ward

Shayne won the X Factor in 2005

ITV has launched a new advertising campaign for the X Factor that seems to have hit a nerve with series two winner, Shayne Ward.

The promo looks back at the show’s history and features Leona Lewis, One Direction, Olly Murs, Alexandra Burke, JLS and Little Mix talking about their experiences on the reality show.

However, Shayne, 27, seems a bit rattled that he hasn’t been mentioned, commenting on Twitter:

“Just seen the new X Factor promo video. Yet again it’s like I’m being erased slowly from their history.

“Pathetic really. Would love to know why?”

Ward won the X Factor in 2005 and subsequently scored two platinum albums. His third record, Obsession, reached Number 15 in the charts and his single of the same name debuted at Number 97.

Other series winners Matt Cardle, Joe McElderry, Leon Jackson and Steve Brookstein have also been left out of the promo.

Shayne is currently starring as Stacee Jaxx in 80s-themed musical, Rock of Ages at the Shaftesbury Theatre in London. He is reportedly set to return to the studio when his contract ends this September.

Gaga confirmed for charity concert

More acts still to be announced

Lady Gaga and Coldplay are among the first artists confirmed for a special Children in Need concert to take place this November.

The event, organised by X Factor judge and Take That star Gary Barlow, was announced on this morning’s Chris Moyles Show on Radio One.

Gary told the team that he “can’t wait” to see it all come together on 17 November:

“I’m so thrilled that these incredible artists are giving their time for such a special charity that is very close to my heart.

“There are still some great acts we’re keeping up our sleeve to announce in the coming weeks and who knows, I might even sing a little something on the night too.”

JLS, N-Dubz and Ed Sheeran were also named as performers alongside Coldplay and Gaga, with further artists to be announced in the coming weeks.

David Ramsden, BBC Children in Need CEO, said of the concert:

“With Gary’s incredible support we are going to be able to change thousands of young lives right here in the UK.

“He has put together an amazing line-up for an unforgettable evening which will raise lots of money for disadvantaged children who desperately need our help.”

The show, hosted by Moyles, Fearne Cotton and former Doctor Who David Tennant, will take place at the MEN Arena in Manchester on 17 November.

Tickets are priced between £55 and £95 and will go on sale at 9am on 16 September from the BBC Children in Need website.

Cher Lloyd on course for Number One

On course for top spot

X Factor finalist Cher Lloyd is celebrating today after her debut single came straight in at number one in the midweek charts.

Cher, who recently turned 18, topped the UK chart with her song Swagger Jagger, knocking JLS off the number one spot.

The Wanted slipped into third place, while Ed Sheeran’s The A Team and Louder by DJ Fresh held third and fourth places respectively.

Meanwhile, Amy Winehouse continues to dominate the chart, with nine songs in the Top 200.

Her second album, Back to Black, is on course to remain at the top of the album chart, with her debut, Frank, in at number three.

Lloyd has faced a lot of criticism since she left the ITV1 reality show, with the singer recently admitting that she the ‘abuse’ she receives on Twitter gets her down.

She told BRMB:

“There are old men out there that are writing on my Twitter, saying abusive things. They’ve probably got daughters and how would they feel if their daughter was in my position?

“They wouldn’t like an old man talking to her like that would they.

“People should give me a break. I don’t think they understand what they’re doing to me. This is what upsets me a lot and makes me think that I don’t even want to do this anymore.”
