Nicole confirmed as X Factor judge

Nicole completes this year’s judging panel

Nicole Scherzinger has been confirmed as the fourth and final judge on this year’s X Factor panel.

ITV has announced that the former Pussycat Doll will join Gary Barlow, Tulisa Contostavlos and Louis Walsh to complete the line-up, replacing singer Kelly Rowland.

The Don’t Hold Your Breath singer, 33, said of her new venture:

“I’m so excited to join the UK X Factor family. It’s where I got my start, so it feels great to come full circle.

“I can’t wait to see what talent the UK has to offer and to help inspire and bring out the best in these artists.”

Reports had suggested that Scherzinger, who appeared as a judge on the US X Factor last year, was among the star names up for the job, but bosses seemed unsure on who would take up the extra place until last week.

Spice Girl Geri Halliwell, singer Anastasia, previous X Factor winner Leona Lewis and R.I.P. star Rita Ora all tried their hand at judging throughout the audition stages, but it seems Nicole’s experience worked in her favour.

Nicole will claim her seat on the panel from 18 June when the auditions tour rolls into Newcastle.

X Factor, now in its ninth series, will return to our screens later this year.

Gary is the only judge to be officially confirmed

Gary Barlow will return to the X Factor panel for the next series of the reality show, it has been confirmed.

The Take That star announced the news via his Twitter page on 17 April, cryptically posting:

“I’ve got some news ……”

Before revealing that he would returning to the panel for a second time:

“I’m so happy to tell you all that I’m back on the X factor this year! See you at auditions.”

ITV and the producers of the reality series later confirmed the news in a press release, with SyCo boss Simon Cowell quoted as saying:

“It’s great to be able to confirm our first judge for this year’s show. Gary has earned his place and I’m excited to be working with him again.”

The other three judges are yet to be confirmed by the channel, Thames or SyCo, however Tulisa Contostavlos, who mentored winners Little Mix last year, and only remaining original judge, Louis Walsh, are both expected to return.

Tulisa launches new perfume

'The Female Boss'

X Factor judge Tulisa Contostavlos is following in the footsteps of Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez and Fergie, by launching her own fragrance.

The N-Dubz singer unveiled her new scent, The Female Boss, at The Perfume Shop on Oxford Street in London last night.

According to its description on the shop’s website, the perfume is said to consist of “top notes of subtle spices blend with rose and jasmine, which are supported by a rich sensual base of sandalwood, amber and moss.”

The North London-born star invited her Twitter followers along to meet her at the launch, posting yesterday:

“‘I’m launching my Perfume ‘The Female Boss’ tomorrow with a meet and greet / signing at the Perfume shop on oxford street from 3pm! Xxx”

Tulisa was criticised recently on the X Factor for accusing hopeful Misha B of being a bully.

When giving feedback on Misha’s performance on Saturday night, the 23-year-old said:

“I think you are very competitive and I’ve seen a different side of you backstage.

“You being so feisty can come across as quite mean to certain contestants and I’ve been told by a few this week there’s been a few mean comments towards them.”

Misha’s mentor Kelly Rowland has reportedly flown to L.A. after falling out with both Tulisa and Louis Walsh over the remarks.

You can buy Tulisa’s TFB: The Female Boss fragrance from The Perfume Shop’s website.

X Factor final 16 revealed

Final 16 confirmed

The final 16 acts going through to the X Factor Live Finals have been decided, following a two-part special which aired over the weekend.

The 32 acts performed for the judges and their aides on Saturday night, before being whittled down to just 16 on last night’s show.

Mentor to the Boys, Gary Barlow, chose to put Joe Cox, Frankie Cocozza, Marcus Collins and James Michaels through over acts such as 16-year-old Luke Lucas and John Wilding, who reached the same stage in the programme last year.

Kelly Rowland went for Amelia Lily, young Janet Devlin, barmaid Sophie Habibis and Misha Bryan, sending home Holly Repton, Melanie McCabe, Sarah Watson and Jade Richards, who she championed from her first audition.

In the Overs category, mentor Louis Walsh chose Johnny Robinson, Jonjo Kerr and controversial contestants Kitty Brucknell and Goldie Cheung to go through to the live finals.

However, Goldie was replaced by Samantha Brookes, when it was revealed that the Tai Chi instructor did not want to go onto the next stage due to “family commitments”.

Completing the line-up was Tulisa Contostavlos who selected groups Rhythmix, Nu Vibe and Two Shoes, sending home The Lovettes, Estrella and Girl V Boy.

In an X Factor first, The N-Dubz star then poached rejected band The Keys’ lead singer, Charlie and put him through as part of rival boyband, The Risk.

The final 16 will sing live for the first time in a two-and-a-half hour special to air this Saturday at 7.30pm, with the first elimination shown on the Sunday night show.

The X Factor presenting saga continues as it is revealed that Matt Edmondson has been dropped as host of the Xtra Factor, in favour of former show contestant, Olly Murs.

A last-minute announcement was made on 1 June, revealing that 2009 runner-up Olly would be taking over from Radio One DJ Matt as co-host on the spin-off show, just as auditions began in Birmingham.

Twenty-five-year-old Matt seemed to have taken the news well, posting on his Twitter page:

“Got my bag packed, train tickets booked to Birmingham, copy of Simon’s autobiography! Can’t wait!… What’s that you say? OLLY MURS?!??!?!

“Seriously, congrats to @carolineflack1 and @ollyofficial – I was only thinking about him early today (whilst listening to Bob Marley obvs)”

This is the latest in a string of line-up changes for the reality programme.

Just this week, three new judges were confirmed for the panel, with former Destiny’s Child singer Kelly Rowland, N-Dubz front woman Tulisa Constavlos and Gary Barlow replacing Dannii Minogue, Cheryl Cole and Simon Cowell, who has moved to the US version of the show.

Louis Walsh is the only remaining original judge.

Murs, 27, will join former I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! presenter Caroline Flack,31, in presenting the show.
