Lady Gaga cancels Born This Way Ball

Born This Way Ball ends here

Lady Gaga has cancelled the rest of her Born This Way Ball world tour due to injury, it has been announced.

The singer, who originally cancelled just four US gigs, has been forced to end the tour completely after her injuries were revealed to be more serious than previously thought.

Tour promoter, Live Nation confirmed the news in a statement, which read:

“After additional tests to review the severity of the issue, it has been determined that Lady Gaga has a labral tear of the right hip.

“She will need surgery to repair the problem, followed by strict downtime to recover. This, unfortunately, will force her to cancel the [Born This Way Ball] tour so she can heal.”

The 26-year-old star also commented on the news directly through her Twitter account, posting a series of tweets to her ‘little monsters’:

“There’s an unfortunate announcement coming out right now, concerning myself and the Born This Ball. I’m so sorry. I barely know what to say.

“I’ve been hiding a show injury and chronic pain for sometime now, over the past month it has worsened. I’ve been praying it would heal.

“I hid it from my staff, I didn’t want to disappoint my amazing fans. However after last night’s performance I could not walk and still can’t.”

Live Nation has said that fans who have tickets for the cancelled dates will be able to receive a refund.

The Born This Way Ball kicked off on 27 April 2012 in South Korea. It was set to run until 20 March 2013, with the final dates to take place in the US and Canada.

Elton: Madonna’s career is over

Elton blasts Madonna over Gaga feud

Elton John has launched a scathing attack on Madonna, announcing that she “looks like a f**king fairground stripper” and stating that her career is “over”.

Sir Elton made the comments when asked about the Queen of Pop’s feud with his good friend – and godmother to his son, Zachary – Lady Gaga.

Speaking on a television show in Australia, the father-of-one said Madge was “such a nightmare”, before saying that she has no right to criticise other artists:

“Sorry, her career is over… Her tour has been a disaster and it couldn’t happen to a bigger c***.

“If [she] had any common sense, she would have made a record like Ray Of Light and stayed away from the dance stuff.

“[She should have] just been a great pop singer and [made] great pop records, which she does brilliantly. But no… she looks like a f**king fairground stripper. She’s been horrible to Gaga.”

Elton is wading into the well-publicised dramas between the two blonde superstars, which emerged following the release of 26-year-old  Gaga’s Born This Way track.

Some believed that the Lady Gaga track was similar to Madonna’s Express Yourself, with 53-year-old Madge commenting that it was “a wonderful way to redo my song”.

Gaga confirms new album title

Lady Gaga has announced that her next album will be called ARTPOP.

The 26-year-old Born This Way star chose to share the news with her little monsters via her Twitter account, posting:

“Make sure when writing about my new album/project ARTPOP that you CAPITALIZE the title.”

“*Its all in the details*” [sic]

Confirmation of the singer’s new album title comes days after she debuted a new tattoo through the social networking site – the word ARTPOP on her arm – alongside the caption:

“New album, new ink”

ARTPOP, which is the star’s third studio album, is reportedly scheduled for release early next year.

Gaga is currently in the middle of a world tour, but it hasn’t stopped her plans to release a debut fragrance, which hits shops this month.

Labelled as “the first black eau de parfum”, Fame is even said to contain a bit of Gaga herself, with the New York-born star telling an Australian radio show:

“The blood was taken from my own blood sample, so it’s like a sense of having me on your skin.”

It was also announced this month that she will make her screen debut alongside Jessica Alba, Mel Gibson and Sophia Vergara in film sequel Machete Kills, set for release in 2013.

The Born This Way Ball comes to the UK this September, with two dates at in London and one in Manchester.

Westlife star declared bankrupt

Shane owns Shafin Developments with his brother

Shane Filan of boyband Westlife has been declared bankrupt in the UK.

Despite making millions with the group, 32-year-old Filan is said to have lost money when the Irish property market crashed.

After the ruling at Kingston County Court in Surrey on 14 June, the singer said he had “worked long and hard” to pay off his debt and was “devastated” to be declared bankrupt.

Shane owns property company Shafin Developments, which had been set to build a number of developments – including gyms, office units and homes – in the west of Ireland throughout this year.

None of these developments went ahead and the company has now been placed in receivership.

Shafin first ran into trouble in April, with The Sun reporting that the firm owed £4million.

After 14 years together and a string on Number 1 hits, Westlife announced that they were to part ways back in October.

However Shane has now reportedly signed a solo deal with Universal and will release his debut album after the band complete their farewell tours.

Gaga splits from beau

Gaga and Taylor were first linked in September 2011

Lady Gaga has reportedly ended things with her Vampire Diaries boyfriend, Taylor Kinney.

The popstar, who just kicked off her 110-date Monsters Ball world tour, and Kinney are taking “a break”, with a friend telling US Weekly:

“There’s just no room for anything else… Her work is all-consuming.”

However, another source has said that the actor wasn’t that “attentive” to Gaga and the relationship was never going to last that long:

“Taylor was all about himself, a typical actor, and didn’t completely get Gaga.

“She loved that she got this guy who everyone thought was hot! But it was never going to last.”

Thirty-year-old Kinney and the Bad Romance star were first linked in September, following Gaga’s split from long-term partner, Luc Carl.

Speaking last summer about their break-up, the New York-born singer said:

“I’ve really never loved anyone like I loved him. Or like I love him… That relationship really shaped me.”

Gaga confirms UK tour dates

Gaga will visit the UK twice

Lady Gaga has confirmed details of her European tour, with two dates announced for the UK.

The Born This Way Ball world tour will come to the Manchester Arena on 11 September and Twickenham Stadium in London on 8 September.

The musician confirmed a total of 21 concerts throughout Europe, however she posted on Twitter that these were “the first European dates”, suggesting that more may be added to meet demand.

Gaga said in a statement:

“The Born This Way Ball is an Electro-Metal Pop-Opera; the tale of the Beginning, the genesis of the Kingdom of Fame. How we were birthed and how we will die celebrating.”

Tickets for the UK dates will go on sale on 13 April, with prices starting from £50.

Newly reformed band The Darkness are said to be supporting the singer for her European dates.

Gaga’s Born This Way Ball world tour begins in Seoul, South Korea on 27 April.

Gaga will avoid the media for 'a long time'

Lady Gaga has revealed that she’s planning to go on a media hiatus.

The Born This Way singer’s appearance on Oprah in the US over the weekend was said to be her last for “a very long time”.

In the interview, which took place at Gaga’s childhood home in New York, she told Queen of the Chatshow, Oprah:

“Other than this interview, Oprah, I don’t intend to speak to anyone for a very long time. I have to shut out the noise.

“The latest thing I do is I don’t read a damn thing. No press, no television. If my mom calls and says, ‘Did you hear about?’ I don’t want to know nothing about anything that is going on … I shut it all off.”

This news may come as no surprise to Gaga’s Little Monsters, given that she is set to embark on a 110-date tour next month.

The Born This Way Ball kicks off in Seoul on 27 April.

Gaga’s Christmas present

Gaga will treat her fans on the 25th

Lady Gaga has revealed that she’s got a special present in mind for all her Little Monsters this Christmas.

The eclectic star will treat fans to a previously unreleased track from her Born This Way album on Christmas day.

The Marry the Night singer Tweeted the news, posting:

“Been racking my brain on what to get Little Monsters for Christmas!! I finally figured it out!!

“On Christmas Day I will leak to you an unreleased Song off Born This Way! It was recorded live, in one take, on the tour bus. Uncensored.”

Gaga also revealed via her Twitter profile that she will spend the holidays in Japan, saying:

“I’m on my way to Japan! So excited to spend Xmastime with my TokyoMonsters!”

The track will be available to download for free on 25 December 2011.

Gaga unveils Marry the Night video

Gaga's latest single, Marry the Night

Lady Gaga has released her 14-minute-long video for next single, Marry the Night.

It sees the eclectic star cover herself in cereal and milk, dance in front of a blazing car and receive treatment in a psychiatric hospital.

Leading up to the official release, the singer posted about her excitement via Twitter and Facebook, writing:

“Can’t sleep. I’m so excited Marry the Night Video is coming out tonight!

“Can’t wait for you all to watch the Marry the Night video on television! It’s roughly 13 minutes long. 2 hrs and 45 MINUTES. #NeedARuffee”

The video is the Gaga’s longest yet, beating Telephone which lasted nine minutes and 31 seconds.

Marry the Night is officially released on 4 December, but is available to download now.

Cole pulls out of charity gig

Cheryl Cole will not perform at the Children in Need Rocks concert – scheduled to take place later this week – due to illness, it has been announced.

The singer’s spokesperson confirmed the news today, telling The Mirror:

“Cheryl Cole has sadly had to pull out of a performance at CIN Rocks this week as she is suffering from pharyngitis.”

Cheryl was reportedly set to duet with Take That star Gary Barlow, who also organised the event, on the night, but has now officially cancelled her appearance.

The pair apparently met up last week to discuss the concert, with new X Factor judge Gary revealing:

“I wouldn’t have asked Cheryl to duet with me because I’m a gentleman. So I said to her: ‘Do you fancy doing something? Take your pick. We’ve got Coldplay, you can duet with anyone’.

“And she said: ‘Well, what about you? I fancy doing something with you’. And I thought, ‘Here we go!’”

Cole was set to make her comeback at the concert, which is being held at in aid of BBC Children in Need at the M.E.N. Arena in Manchester.

The event will, however, feature performances from the likes of Lady Gaga, JLS and Michael Bublé.
