Lewis confirms break-up
Lewis Hamilton has confirmed his split from singer Nicole Scherzinger.
Speaking for the first time since news broke of the couple’s break-up, the F1 driver told PA that he and Scherzinger will remain close:
“Yeah, we’re friends at least and we can move forward. It’s never easy going through tough times.
“It’s these kind of times that are sent to try you, and it’s about how you pull through them. I’ve my family who are helping, so I feel pretty good.
“I’ve many more days coming up with my family over Christmas and all that, so I’m really looking forward to it.
“I’m just trying to look forward now, and we’ve three good races coming up, so I’m just trying to keep my mind focused on business.”
Nicole, who is currently appearing as a judge on the US X Factor, and Lewis, 26, had been together for four years.
Reports are suggesting that the pair split because work commitments kept them apart for too long.
Nicole Scherzinger has denied that she and her racing driver other half Lewis Hamilton are engaged.
The former Pussycat Doll took to Twitter today to put an end to rumours, posting:
“Lewis and I woke up this morning and read we were engaged! Sorry to disappoint u all but its not true.” [sic]
Thrity-three-year-old Nicole had to step in after her father told The Mail on Sunday that the pair were engaged, even calling Lewis his “future son-in-law”:
“You know about the proposal? Yes they are engaged. My future son-in-law is a really nice guy, really down-to-earth.
“My family all like him. The good spirit is there. He is sincere and he and my daughter seem genuinely happy together. Lewis is a really good guy.”
However, it didn’t take Alfonso Valiente long to backtrack on his ‘announcement’, adding:
“Listen, I don’t want to be the one to say that. I think you need to hear it from them.
“I don’t want to be seen to say anything that might be wrong. I don’t want to get in trouble.”
The couple got together in 2007, after meeting at the European Music Awards in Munich.
Nicole is currently busy on the US X Factor, after she replaced Cheryl Cole on the judging panel, and Lewis, 26, is in the middle of the Formula One season.
