After Sacha Baron Cohen’s stunt at this year’s Oscars, I had to feature The Dictator in this week’s Film Friday.
If you have no clue what I’m on about, basically everyone was going on about The Dictator anyway after Academy bosses decided they didn’t want to let Sacha in dressed as the lead character from his latest film. He regularly dresses up as roles from his films anyway at award ceremonies, so I don’t know why they thought the Oscars would be any different.
ANYWAY. They ‘banned’ him, then after the uproar [free publicity], they decided they’d let him come dressed up as whoever he wanted.
Cue him turning up as The Dictator, complete with some army ladies and an urn filled with Kim Jong-Il’s ‘ashes’, which he proceeded to ‘spill’ on E! star and person responsible for Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Ryan Seacrest.
It’s safe to say, Seacrest was rubbish at hiding his annoyance, but like the trooper he is, he carried on presenting as – wait for it – he’d brought another suit jacket with him on the advice of mummy Seacrest. Thank God, eh?
And that was pretty much the most exciting thing that happened at the Oscars.
Now, why not see what all the fuss is about with the trailer for The Dictator, which is set for release this summer. Welcome back Sasha Baron Cohen.
