Nude photos of Scarlett appeared online
The man accused of leaking nude photographs of Scarlett Johansson has said “sorry” for invading her privacy.
Christopher Cheney, who is said to be behind the cyber attacks on a number of celebrities, also confessed to being addicted to spying on stars.
Thirty-five-year-old Cheney told to a local news station in Florida:
“It started as a curiosity. It happened and snowballed. I didn’t know how to stop doing it.
“I deeply apologise. I know what I did was probably one of the worst invasions of privacy someone could experience.
“These people don’t have privacy to begin with, and I was in that tiny little sliver of privacy they do have.”
In an interview with CNN las month, hacking victim Scarlett condemned the acts, saying:
“Just because you’re an actor or make films or whatever doesn’t mean you’re not entitled to your own personal privacy.
“If that is sieged in some way, it feels unjust. It feels wrong.”
Cheney is said to have hacked into the emails belonging to around 50 Hollywood stars, including Mila Kunis and Christina Aguilera.
He was arrested on 9 October after a year-long FBI investigation and now faces 26 counts of computer hacking, aggravated identity theft and wiretapping.
If convicted, Cheney could face up to 121 years in federal prison.
