‘Gutted’ Tulisa gets the Axe Factor?

'The Female Boss' gets the boot?

‘The Female Boss’ gets the boot?

Tulisa has been axed from the X Factor judging panel, according to reports.

In a show shake up, X Factor boss Simon Cowell has apparently sacked the 24-year-old singer, after a two-year stint on the show.

A ‘source’ reportedly told The Sun:

“To say Tulisa is gutted is an understatement. She’s a bit embarrassed to be on the scrapheap when she delivered with Little Mix.

“She’s thrown away one of the most high-profile jobs in the industry as well as one of the best paid.

“But she simply wasn’t up to scratch last year and Simon Cowell had no real option.”

Among those already tipped to replace the self-styled Female Boss are judge Gary Barlow’s former bandmate, Robbie Williams, and Mel B, who appeared on the reality show as a guest judge last year.

Mel has also recently signed up to take Sharon Osbourne’s place on the America’s Got Talent judging panel, but a source told The Mirror that her schedule could be arranged around the X Factor.

Tulisa joined Barlow, Louis Walsh and Kelly Rowland on the panel in 2011 and mentored winning act Little Mix. Rowland departed after just one series and was replaced by former Pussycat Doll, Nicole Scherzinger.

X Factor will return to our screens for its tenth season this autumn.

Drama as first X Factor act sent home

Carolynne received the lowest number of votes

Carolynne Poole has become the first act to be voted off this year’s X Factor, in a dramatic Sunday night results show.

Carolynne, 32, and Rylan Clark both received the lowest number of viewer votes during Heroes Week, putting them in the danger zone last night, but it was Poole who was ultimately sent packing.

They both performed once more for the judges in a sing-off, before the judges chose which of the acts to put through to next week’s show.

Both boys mentor Nicole Scherzinger and Gary Barlow, who looks after the Over 28s, predictably chose their own acts, while Tulisa opted to send Rylan home. However, Louis, after much deliberation, caused mass controversy by choosing to save Rylan and sending the decision to deadlock.

It was then left to host Dermot O’Leary to reveal which hopeful received the least amount of votes overall and would be sent home.

Reacting to the news, Carolynne’s mentor, Gary, stormed off stage, but returned later on for spin-off show the Xtra Factor to explain his annoyance, calling Louis’ decision an “absolute joke”.

In the series’ first live show, contestants performed Hero-themed songs, with Enrique Iglesias and Queen among the choices. Saturday night also saw Christopher Maloney join the finalists, after being voted in as this year’s wildcard entry.

The next live show will air on Saturday 13 October at 8pm on ITV1.

X Factor finalists revealed

The 12 acts through to this year’s X Factor live finals have been revealed, in a weekend of shows documenting the Judges Houses stage.

Gary Barlow, Tulisa Contostavlos, Nicole Scherzinger and Louis Walsh had to whittle down their groups from six acts to just three, with a little help from their famous friends.

New judge Nicole invited R&B star NeYo to her Dubai base to help her choose which of her boys to take through, while Sharon Osbourne joined Louis in Las Vegas to judge the groups.

Girls mentor Tulisa called on rapper Tinie Tempah, who joined her in St Lucia, and Gary had a helping hand when it came to the Overs from former panelist Cheryl Cole, who was helicoptered into the grounds of a Northamptonshire stately home.

See who made the judges’ final cut below and catch the first live show this Saturday on ITV1.

Manchester venue for X Factor final

Final to be held outside London for the first time

This year’s X Factor final will be held in Manchester, show producers have confirmed.

It will be the first time the show’s climax has been staged outside of the Capital.

The first seven X Factor finals were held at Fountain Studios in Wembley, home of the regular live shows, however in 2011, show bosses chose to move the final to the larger Wembley Arena.

This year’s two-night final will now be held at Manchester Central Convention Complex, with around half of tickets set to be distributed to fans via the programme’s sponsor, TalkTalk.

There will be a slight change to the judging panel this season, with Nicole Scherzinger joining Gary Barlow, Tulisa Contostavlos and Louis Walsh in place of departing judge, Kelly Rowland.

Series eight of the X Factor begins on 18 August at 8pm on ITV1, with the final scheduled for December.

Nicole confirmed as X Factor judge

Nicole completes this year’s judging panel

Nicole Scherzinger has been confirmed as the fourth and final judge on this year’s X Factor panel.

ITV has announced that the former Pussycat Doll will join Gary Barlow, Tulisa Contostavlos and Louis Walsh to complete the line-up, replacing singer Kelly Rowland.

The Don’t Hold Your Breath singer, 33, said of her new venture:

“I’m so excited to join the UK X Factor family. It’s where I got my start, so it feels great to come full circle.

“I can’t wait to see what talent the UK has to offer and to help inspire and bring out the best in these artists.”

Reports had suggested that Scherzinger, who appeared as a judge on the US X Factor last year, was among the star names up for the job, but bosses seemed unsure on who would take up the extra place until last week.

Spice Girl Geri Halliwell, singer Anastasia, previous X Factor winner Leona Lewis and R.I.P. star Rita Ora all tried their hand at judging throughout the audition stages, but it seems Nicole’s experience worked in her favour.

Nicole will claim her seat on the panel from 18 June when the auditions tour rolls into Newcastle.

X Factor, now in its ninth series, will return to our screens later this year.

Tulisa crowned FHM’s Sexiest Woman

Tulisa beat Cheryl Cole, Mila Kunis and Megan Fox

Tulisa Contostavlos has been voted the Sexiest Women in the World 2012 in an FHM poll.

The former N-Dubz singer and X Factor judge has stolen the crown from 2011 winner Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, who has dropped down to 18th in this year’s list.

Winning the Sexiest Woman in the World title comes in the midst of a rollercoaster year for Camden-born Tulisa, 24.

Her stint as X Factor judge saw her mentor the Groups category, including winners Little Mix, and she’s set to release her debut solo single Young from her first album The Female Boss later this month.

Commenting on her win, Tulisa, who appears in an exclusive cover shoot in the June issue of FHM, said:

“Thank you so much for voting for me. It’s a true honour and definitely a lovely confidence boost.

“I’m proud of me and I am who I am and I know that I’m marmite and I wouldn’t wanna be anything less or anything more, I’m just myself.

“This is one that will stay on the mantelpiece probably for the rest of my life.”

Tulisa’s victory makes it the fourth victory in a row for Brit ladies.

Cheryl Cole made history in 2010 by becoming the first British woman to come top of the list for two consecutive years, before model and Transformers star Rosie Huntington-Whiteley took last year’s title.

The only other Brits to win title during the poll’s 18-year history are Keira Knightley in 2006 and Kelly Brook in 2005.

Gary Barlow X Factor return confirmed

Gary is the only judge to be officially confirmed

Gary Barlow will return to the X Factor panel for the next series of the reality show, it has been confirmed.

The Take That star announced the news via his Twitter page on 17 April, cryptically posting:

“I’ve got some news ……”

Before revealing that he would returning to the panel for a second time:

“I’m so happy to tell you all that I’m back on the X factor this year! See you at auditions.”

ITV and the producers of the reality series later confirmed the news in a press release, with SyCo boss Simon Cowell quoted as saying:

“It’s great to be able to confirm our first judge for this year’s show. Gary has earned his place and I’m excited to be working with him again.”

The other three judges are yet to be confirmed by the channel, Thames or SyCo, however Tulisa Contostavlos, who mentored winners Little Mix last year, and only remaining original judge, Louis Walsh, are both expected to return.

It is not yet known if Kelly Rowland will feature in this year’s series.

The X Factor was the most watched show in 2011 and was named Best Talent Show at the National TV Awards in January.

This year will see a slight rule change, with any singer over the age of 16 allowed to enter, even if they have a record deal in place.

The series will return in summer 2012.

Tulisa sets the record straight

Tulisa admits existence of the tape

X Factor star Tulisa Contostavlos has finally spoken out regarding rumours of a supposed ‘sex tape’ which surfaced on the internet this week.

The former N-Dubz singer has now confirmed that a tape does exist, despite obtaining a gagging order earlier in the week to prevent media agencies from reporting on it.

Speaking via a video posted on her Twitter page on 21 March, the 23-year-old admitted that she was “heartbroken”, but wanted to “set the record straight”:

“I wanted to set the record straight on a certain tape circulating online, that consists of footage of me and my ex-boyfriend having an intimate moment.

“I have never been the type to sit down and keep my mouth shut, and to keep quiet about anything, especially when I’ve done nothing wrong whatsoever.”

She continued, revealing that her former boyfriend, Justin ‘MC Ultra’ Edwards, had previously threatened to release the material to “ruin [Tulisa's] career”:

“I confronted him, he lied about it. And here we are today and the footage is now circulating online.

“I don’t feel that I should be the one to take heat or stick. This is something that he took upon himself to put online. He’s now sitting in silence, saying it’s not him on the tape, when it is.”

Since Tulisa’s comments, Edwards has taken to his Twitter account, posting:

“I believe in silence being a sign of Integrity but in this case I guess I’ll have to speak up and Lay out the facts and let you guys decide.

“To find the truth both sides of the story should be heard b4 [sic] passing judgement #thatisall”

Footage of a blonde-haired female, now known to be Tulisa, appeared on Pappzd earlier this week.

It later had to be taken down after the site received a handwritten cease and desist notice.
